Welcoming our friend Travis Hinkle.
We would be absolutely crazy if we did not extend a warm welcome to our new beverage director, Travis Hinkle!
Travis fell in love with wine while working his way through college at some of the finest restaurants in Baltimore. Shortly after moving to Houston in 2011, he passed the challenging Advanced Sommelier exam through the Court of Master Sommeliers, joining only a handful of other beverage professionals in Texas. In between thoughts about wine, he can be found hanging out with his wife and daughter, drinking way too much coffee, and enjoying what he considers to be the greatest city in America.
Travis has officially been a part of the Treadsack team for almost three weeks, but he and his family have been a part of our lives for as long as we can recall. Several of our Down House staff can remember the countless times the Hinkle family has enjoyed Down House’s offerings on our patio.
It is through a little piece of serendipity that Travis is now involved in the curation of our evolving beverage program in a big way. What’s more, Travis’s wife Sara continues to contribute her wonderful art to our menus and to Sugar and Rice magazine.
Travis has exciting plans for educating both our guests and our staff. Specifically, he plans to introduce many food-friendly wines offered at a great value.
