The Kipper Club Test Kitchen

Treadsack is excited to announce the launch of our newest venture, Kipper Club Test Kitchen. Starting September 2014, the Test Kitchen will begin a series of weekly guest-chef dinners where our guests will have a unique chance to get a close look at the chef’s creative process in an intimate open-kitchen setting.

We feel like the time is particularly ripe for this venture. The last few years have seen an explosion of talent in the Houston culinary scene, and subsequently we’ve seen a lot of great new restaurants open. As chefs have opened their own establishments, we’ve seen an opportunity to create a new space that sheds light on the next generation of culinary talent–the people who are going to push cuisine in Houston forward in years to come. The Kipper Club Test Kitchen will be that space.

The guest chefs at Kipper Club Test Kitchen will include both up-and-coming chefs who are making a name for themselves and established chefs–some of whom are waiting for their restaurants to open. Featuring a completely open kitchen and a large communal table, Kipper Club dinners will give diners a chance to interact with chefs, watch them work, and get a sense of what drives them. Event details (including menu) will be released on a per-event basis through our e-mail list (sign up here), Facebook, and Twitter pages. Tickets for scheduled dinners can be purchased at our Shopify page here.

Prices for each dinner will vary, but expect three to five courses for $75-$115 per person. Complimentary paired alcoholic beverages are included. Due to the nature of these dinners, no substitutions can be made. Our first dinner is scheduled for Friday, September 26, with Chef Richard Knight, of the upcoming Hunky Dory restaurant.

Kipper Club is located at 4400 N. Yale St., Suite D, Houston, TX 77018. You’ll be able to identify the location by the red “Tippy’s Soul Food Fried Chicken & More” sign above the space. Kipper Club can be found on Twitter and Instagram @KipperClubHTX. For inquiries, please contact Chris Cusack at
